Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial trophy for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a difficult season, managing just one win at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.
The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in particular - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.
Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's first title following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court from that period of the previous year.
Victory also signifies the Russian has secured 21 championships at 21 various tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my two daughters together, so to secure a trophy is really nice," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his previous six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.
Medvedev's defensive play style and frequent outbursts on court had led commentators to doubt if his skill to play at the highest level was over.
But the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serve.
Medvedev recovered from a break down in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the final five points to take the lead.
Both players swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his initial ATP Tour title, took control to push for a third set.
He rescued 4 early-game break points in a tight third set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.
Suitably, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
